Xenia Fire Chief Kenneth Riggsby has been serving his hometown for nearly 40 years. Recently he was recognized for that service by his alma mater, Xenia Community Schools, by being inducted into the school Foundation's Hall of Honor.
Riggsby is a 1979 graduate of Xenia High School and was one of four who were inducted into the 2023 Hall of Honor. Members are nominated by others in the community and may be graduates of Xenia High School, present or former school employees, or community individuals who have provided outstanding service to Xenia and the school system. Once a person is nominated, a committee of seven members selects those who are ultimately inducted.
Chief Riggsby began his firefighting career as a volunteer with Xenia Township Fire Department. After two years, he was hired on full time at the Xenia Fire Division in May 1983. He has held the positions of Firefighter/Paramedic, Lieutenant, Captain, and Deputy Chief before being appointed to Fire Chief in September 2011.
Outside of the fire station, Chief Riggsby is an active member of AHOP and has traveled on several missions trips to Africa and Honduras. He is also active in local missions to benefit the Xenia community and the local area.
We thank Chief Riggsby for his continued service to our community and congratulate him on this honor.
