City of Xenia to provide building inspection services in-house starting in February

Building Inspection

The City of Xenia is pleased to announce it has contracted with National Inspection Corporation and will begin providing building inspection services in-house on February 21, 2023.

In 2022, City Staff was directed by members of Council to seek out additional options for building inspection services. A Request for Proposals was issued, and two firms were interviewed by City Staff to better understand how they approached customer service and enforcement of the City’s adopted building codes. Following the interview process, it was determined National Inspection Corporation (NIC) is the most qualified to provide those services. “This is an exciting step forward for Xenia,” said City Manager Brent Merriman. “Our goal is to provide a smooth process to customers making an investment in our community. We believe contracting with National Inspection Corporation, which has a reputation of offering excellent customer service, will help us attain that goal.”

Services that will be provided include building plan reviews and examinations, inspections, permit and certificate of occupancy issuances, inspection of existing structures to assure compliance with applicable building codes, the issuance of repair, condemnation and/or adjudication orders to enforce all applicable building codes within the City.

A user-friendly fee calculator is available on the City’s website to help residents and businesses determine estimated permit costs that will be undertaken for their project. Building and Zoning permits can be requested with one application digitally, or in person at the City Administration Building. Additional details are available at www.explorexenia.com.
