Xenia Police to increase enforcement of traffic violations at direction of City Council

Traffic Safety

With onset of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Xenia Police Division began looking for ways to protect the health and welfare of our citizens and our officers.  One of the changes was to reduce public contact by reducing traffic enforcement.  Unfortunately, this has resulted in an uptick of drivers not complying with traffic laws and an increase in traffic crashes and complaints of speeding and reckless operation.

In an effort to encourage everyone to come back into compliance with the traffic laws, Xenia PD will be increasing traffic enforcement throughout the city.  Officers will be assigned to specifically work traffic enforcement at random times and at random locations.  These officers will be issuing citations for things such as speed, stop signs, red lights, seatbelts, child restraint, OVI, and other traffic violations.  Between calls for service, the on-duty officers will also be increasing their traffic enforcement efforts.

We urge citizens to voluntarily comply with all traffic laws. This reduces traffic related crashes and increases the safety of everyone living, working, playing, relaxing, or just passing through our great community.
