Governor DeWine announces 'Responsible Restart Ohio' plan

Governor Mike DeWine announced the ’Responsible Restart Ohio’ plan Monday afternoon, April 27th, laying out guidelines of when certain areas of the workforce may return. "What we put together is a plan based on all the information we have about how dangerous #COVID19 is - but we also know it’s dangerous to not have people working," the governor tweeted, "There are consequences there too. We have to balance." 

  1. Beginning May 1st, hospitals will be able to once again perform procedures that do not require an overnight stay. Dentist offices and veterinarians will also be able to re-open.
  2. On May 4th, manufacturing, distribution, construction, and the general office environment may re-open. There are health guidelines the governor laid out that employers are being told to follow, including allowing for social distancing. Full list of guidelines here. 
  3. On May 12th, consumer and retail facilities and massage, tattoo, and piercing businesses will be allowed to re-open.
  4. On May 15th, hair salons, barbershops, nail salons, and day spas are permitted to re-open
  5. Restaurants may also resume patio service on May 15th, with dine-in services reopening on May 21st
  6. Campgrounds are permitted to re-open on May 21st
  7. Horse racing may resume on May 22nd ** This does not apply to casinos or racinos**
  8. On May 26th Ohio BMVs will re-open for certain services, gyms and fitness centers can re-open, pools, and low or non-contact sports may resume
  9. Also on May 26th Miniature Golf, Bowling Alleys, Batting Cages, and Skills Training for all sports including contact sports  may reopen.
  10. Childcare providers may re-open on May 31st as well as day camps
  11. Catering and Banquet Centers may reopen on June 1st and must follow similar protocols to that of restaurants. Crowd size will be limited to 300.
