Xenia Fire Division promotes four

Xenia Fire Division has named Captain Mike Bogan as its new Deputy Fire Chief. Lieutenant Tom Norris will fill Bogan’s current position as Fire Captain. With the retirement of Lieutenant Mike Staub and Norris’ promotion, firefighters Josh VanDyne and Anson Smith will be promoted to serve as lieutenants for the Xenia Fire Division.

Captain Bogan began his career as a Firefighter/Paramedic with the City of Xenia on August 22, 1999. He was later promoted to Fire Lieutenant in November 2009. Captain Bogan has leadership experience from Spring Valley Township where he served as the Fire Chief. Captain Bogan is also a Marine Corps veteran. Over the last several years Captain Bogan has served as the Fire Division’s technical expert and serves as a liaison to Tyler Technologies. As a veteran of the Division, his experience, knowledge, and strong leadership skills will serve him well as he moves into his new role as Deputy Fire Chief.

Lieutenant Tom Norris began his career as a Firefighter/Paramedic with the City of Xenia in August of 2002 after serving as a Xenia Police Officer for five years. Norris was promoted to Fire Lieutenant in June of 2012 and since his promotion has assumed incident command on several large incidents including a three-alarm fire at 270 Mt. Vernon. In addition, he has served as lead officer of the Fire Investigation Unit.

Firefighter Anson Smith began his career with the Xenia Fire Division in May of 2003. Firefighter Smith has prepared himself for a promotion to lieutenant by serving on the Specialty Rescue Team, the Ohio Region 3 Rescue Strike Team, and assuming the duties as acting lieutenant over the course of his career.

Firefighter Josh VanDyne began his career with the Xenia Fire Division in August of 2004. Firefighter VanDyne brings a vast foundation of experience from serving as a deputy with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, a member of Task Force One, and a member of the Region 3 Rescue Task Force. He currently serves on the fire training committee, technical rescue team, fire investigation team, and the Regional SWAT Tactical Medic Team for the Xenia Fire Division.
