Sgt. Lon Etchison began his law enforcement career in 1995 as a Deputy Sheriff with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office. Lon was hired by the Xenia Police Division in 1999. Lon was a Patrol Officer for 8 years and performed specialized assignments as an evidence technician, field training officer, firearms instructor and as a member of the Greene County SWAT Team. In 2007 Lon was assigned to the Greene County ACE Task Force as a Detective. Lon also served as a Detective in the Xenia Police Division Criminal Investigations Section before being promoted to Patrol Sergeant in 2016. In 2022, the Police Division restructured and Lon took over the Criminal Investigations Section as the Detective Sergeant.
Throughout his career Lon has received several awards and commendations including the Casey Elliott "City's Finest" Award, a Leadership Award and two Meritorious Service Awards.
Lon graduated from Cedarville University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice. Lon also teaches at the Greene County Career Center’s Criminal Justice Academy.
