Xenia is blessed with many wonderful businesses, small and large, selling or manufacturing a wide array of goods and services. Some are well known, others not so much. Each month we will spotlight one business in the City, sharing their story and demonstrating what makes Xenia great!
>SAS< Automation
>SAS< Automation is a manufacturer of robotic end-of-arm tooling components, custom gripper systems, and automation equipment. Mr. Trent Fisher, a licensed professional industrial engineer, began the business in Xenia, Ohio in 1996. The company maintains a complete in-house design engineering staff, manufacturing, assembly, and on-site installation and service capabilities.
International expansion occurred in 2001, with the opening of a European office in Karlsruhe, Germany, and continued in Asia in 2011, with a new sales location in Hong Kong. The company continues to grow with sales now occurring in most parts of the globe, including many new customers in South America.
>SAS< is a pioneer in flexible and modular robotic gripper and end effector technology. This easy-to-use robotic end-of-arm tooling component system is uniquely capable of servicing any robot. The component system offers any facility using robots the choice of making their own tooling or to have a custom tool produced for them by the engineering staff at >SAS< Automation.
Only >SAS< manufacturers EOAT components in the United States. All competitors sell tooling components made off-shore. Manufacturing in the United States gives >SAS< the ability to provide customers with the latest engineering technologies for – any part, any robot, anywhere.
>SAS< focuses on several markets including automotive, plastics, palletizing, packaging, food, metal press tending, and general material handling. With 30 percent of company sales in exports, >SAS< is well-positioned to expand into Brazil, Russia, India, South Korea and other Asian countries.
As a manufacturing company, Xenia has been an ideal community for >SAS< for several reasons. The entire Miami Valley region remains a key center for manufacturing providing excellent resources in technology and skilled labor. Greene County and the City of Xenia are strong supporters of local business. We see tireless work being done to facilitate growth of local businesses and were impressed with the coverage of our recent solar panel installation (the largest in Greene County).
