X-REC (formerly BRACA) and its Tree Committee held a Winter Tree Amateur Photography Contest in 2023. Amateur photographers were asked to aim to capture any unique aspect of a tree and should consider the bark, structure, etc. Photographs that met the contest requirements were submitted to a panel of judges to determine the winner. The winning photograph was featured in the Xenia Daily Gazette, was on display in the lobby of the City of Xenia Administration Building, and was showcased on the City’s social media and this website. The first place winner received a framed print of the photograph along with a $25 Kroger gift card.
Rules & Regulations
Digital photographs may be submitted electronically by emailing City Clerk Michelle Johnson. Entries were due by Wednesday, March 1, 2023. A photo release form is required for each photo entry that includes the photographer’s name, daytime telephone number, and location of tree within the city limits of Xenia. One photograph per email entry is required but each photographer can submit up to five photographs.
Only amateur photographers were permitted to enter with photographs taken between January 1 and March 1, 2023. Photographs were judged based on clarity of photograph, composition of photograph, emotional impact of image, and quality of subject.
