Board of Zoning Appeals
The Board of Zoning Appeals is a quasi-judicial board that has complete authority in accordance with adopted ordinances and state law. Their decisions are final and can only be appealed in a court of law. They rule on variances, determinations of similar uses, and requests for administrative review.

Board for Recreation, Arts & Cultural Activities
BRACA coordinates recreation activities in the City including the annual Easter Egg Hunt, annual Youth Fishing Derby, and the annual Christmas event. They also review and make recommendations to City Council on parks and recreation plans concerning the recreational, artistic, and cultural needs of the citizens of the City.

Charter Review Commission
The Charter Review Commission was established by passage of Issue 20 on November 6, 2018, to create Section 8.05 of the Xenia City Charter. The Commission shall consist of five (5) to eleven (11) members and shall be appointed every five (5) years for the purpose of reviewing the Xenia City Charter and make recommendations to City Council for amendments.

Civil Service Commission
The Civil Service Commission shall have authority to see that the employees in the classified service are appointed and retained on the basis of merit and fitness as governed by the City Charter, City ordinances or the general laws of the State of Ohio. Their primary duty is to provide open competitive testing to the public for any classified position within the City of Xenia including Firefighter, Police Office, Communications Operator (9-1-1 Dispatcher), Finance Clerk, Clerical, Water and Wastewater Operators, and Maintenance Workers. They also oversee promotional processes for the Police and Fire Divisions and the Public Service Department.

Economic Development Advisory Board
The Economic Development Advisory Board shall, in the interest of the sustainability of the city and the economic betterment of its citizens, serve as the core advisory body regarding all economic development interests and activities for the city. The Board shall advise and assist administrative leadership and City Council in matters related to economic development planning and advocacy including tax incentive programs, enterprise zone arrangements, TIFs, JEDDs, and annexation agreements.

Planning & Zoning Commission
The Planning and Zoning Commission reviews and recommends to City Council on the following: Xenia Urban Service Area Land Use Plan for dividing the city or any portion thereof into zones or districts; limitations and regulations as to the height, bulk and location of structures; percentage of lot and dwelling unit occupancy; setback building lines; area and dimensions of yards, courts and other open spaces; uses of land, buildings and other structures in zones and districts; appropriate zoning for land surrounding the city; and such other things as City Council may deem appropriate. In addition, they may make recommendations to amend the Planning and Zoning Code and the zoning map.

Council Standing Committees
On March 11, 2021, City Council approved the Rules of Council, which established five (5) Standing Committees: Finance & Budget Review, Legislative Review & Governmental Affairs, Property Management, Public Safety, and Public Service & Utilities Committee. The Standing Committees will review policies, legislation, and other matters and will report its findings and submit recommendations to City Council for consideration.
