Dog Registration Deadline EXTENDED
On November 22, 2011, Xenia City Council passed Ordinance No. 11-70 requiring dog owners of specific breeds to register their dogs with the Xenia Police Division beginning January 2, 2012. The new ordinance requires any person owning, keeping, possessing, harboring, maintaining, or have the care, custody, or control of a vicious dog to register them. The dogs include pit bulls, American pit bull terriers, bull terriers, Staffordshire bull terriers, American Staffordshire terriers, canary dogs, American bulldogs, old country dogs, Perro de Presa Canario, or any mixed breed of dog that contains as an element one of these breeds.
There is an annual registration fee of $30.00 for each dog. The initial deadline was January 20, 2012. At the January 12, 2012, City Council meeting, Council voted to extend the deadline for this year to March 1, 2012.
