AS A RESULT OF RECENT LAYOFFS, THE CITY OF XENIA PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT HAS BEEN ELIMINATED. THE BOARD FOR RECREATION, ARTS, AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES IS CURRENTLY ATTEMPTING TO HANDLE SOME FUNCTIONS OF THIS DEPARTMENT. OTHER SERVICES ARE BEING TAKEN OVER BY VARIOUS ORGANIZATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS. The City of Xenia Parks & Recreation Department strives to provide quality recreational opportunities to everyone regardless of age, race, color, religion, gender, national origin or ability.
The Parks & Recreation Department reports directly to the City Manager and is responsible for coordination and promotion of all recreational and cultural activities, both public and private, in the city. The Parks & Recreation Department generally supervises direction and development of city parks and recreation facilities and has full supervision of all recreational activities conducted thereon. It is the duty of Parks & Recreation to prepare and enforce rules and regulations as are necessary to regulate all parks, playgrounds and activities. The department is staffed by a Director, a part-time Recreation Program Specialist, several seasonal employees and a host of volunteers.
The Board for Recreation, Art & Cultural Activities (BRACA) assists the Parks & Recreation Department in carrying out objectives.
