Zoning Enforcement

The mission of the Code Enforcement Division of the City of Xenia is to improve and maintain the City's housing and businesses through the upholding of the zoning and property maintenance codes and ordinances of the City of Xenia. The inspection and enforcement efforts of the City's Enforcement Officers protect the tax base and property values of the City by removing blight and encouraging the maintenance of buildings and property.
Zoning
The Zoning Enforcement Officer enforces the City of Xenia's zoning ordinances to preserve, protect and strengthen city neighborhoods. The Zoning Enforcement Officer works closely with homeowners and businesses to address zoning related issues. The Zoning Enforcement Officer works under the City Planner in the Planning and Zoning Department to see that plans are carried out as specified.
The Zoning Enforcement Officer day-to-day activities include enforcement of sign ordinances, building setbacks, landscape requirements, animal noise complaints, vehicles parked on the grass, fences and structures built without zoning permits and other zoning-related issues. This office reviews all sign permit applications, zoning permits, new business applications, sheds, fences, garages, decks and zoning plan review.
Board Support - The Zoning Enforcement Officer provides support to the Board of Zoning Appeals.
