FARMERS' MARKET 2011 - NEW LOCATION -- NEW PARTNERS! NEW TIME AND DAY!
The City of Xenia, after meetings with the Ohio State Extension Office, the Greene County Farmers' Market Association and Master Gardeners, is pleased to announce that there will be a new Farmers' Market downtown this summer. Instead of the City running this years' market, the Greene County Farmers' Market Association will hold the markets.
Instead of Friday morning markets, the new Xenia Towne Square Farmers' Market held by the Greene County Farmers' Market Association, will be TUESDAYS from 2:00 - 6:00 at XENIA TOWNE SQUARE in the lot just south of KMART.
For the last decade, the City of Xenia held a Farmers' Market at Xenia Station from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. every Friday over the summer months. However, dwindling participation by both vendors and customers and City staff reductions led the City to explore changes. With expert assistance from the OSU Extension Office surveys were conducted of both vendors and customers and the City decided to try a new approach. The Greene County Farmers' Market said they would manage the weekly event for 2011. A new day and time was developed to better suit the downtown customer, and a more visible location along E. Main was selected. To read more about the planning process read the press release. The Farmers' Market helps to promote area farmers and producers and provides customers with a variety of products.
